THE DRAFT OF THE BYE-LAW OF ATI ANNANG

ABUJA CHAPTER

DECLARATION

We the SONS and DAUGHTERS of Annang Nation in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja:

HAVING FIRMLY AND SOLEMNLY RESOLVED

to live and associate in unity and harmony as one body (herein after referred to as) ATI ANNANG; dedicated to the promotion of meaningful integration, social justice, welfare and self development as well as secure the blessing of liberty and patriotic citizenship to all members;

and to provide for ourselves A BYE-LAW for the purpose of facilitating the affairs of the Association ATI ANNANG FCT ABUJA CHAPTER in the two-fold interest – Members Welfare and Development of ANNANG COMMUNITY on the principles of collective responsibility, solidarity, freedom, equality and justice.

SECTION 1:

BINDING PRINCIPLES

a.       Subject to the provisions of the constitution of ATI ANNANG, this document s the body o rules and specifications (bye-law) which the ATI ANNANG, FCT, ABUJA CHAPTER gives herself;

b.       The provisions herein shall regulate the business an operation of the Association and, the relationship between members and the Association.

c.       Any other arrangement, decision, order, motivation, protocol or resolution and action which sets aside, contravenes and or insubordinates these provisions, in part or whole, shall be null and void – Ulta vires.

d.       The Bye-Law, in conjunction with, and to the extent that it does not contradict with the relevant provisions of the Constitution shall have binding force on all authorities and persons within the Association.

SECTION 2:

1.1    NAME:

The Association shall be called, known and address as ATI ANNANG FCT, ABUJA CHAPTER.

1.2    LOCATION:

The Association shall be situated in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria.

1.3    ADDRESS:

The correspondence address of the Association shall be ……………

1.4    MOTTO:

The Motto of the Association shall be “ARURU, UKEME MNE UKO” as provided for in the constitution.

1.5    LOGO:

The Logo of the Association shall be as provided for in the constitution.

2.7    UNIFORM:

The Uniform for all occasions shall be decided by the house as deemed fit.

SECTION 3:

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

a.       To afford members a common forum where they meet to promote peace, unity, and development of the Annang Community, and speak with one voice;

b.       To promote love, justice and peace as essential elements for co-existence, meaningful development and progress for a common goal;

c.       To mobilize members towards the realization of meaningful unity;

d.       To assist and encourage human capital development in Annang Nation through education, skill acquisition and training and public awareness in the interest of the Association and the Annang Community at large;

e.       To assist and encourage our people to participate actively in social, economic and political spheres in our national life;

f.        To promote and maintain the norms and value of our cultural heritage;

g.       The Association shall honour our people who have distinguished themselves in various aspects of our private and public life as a means of encouraging hard work and selfless development of the Annang Communities;

h.       To embark on social and economic projects for the development of the Annang land;

i.        To engage in business ventures (e.g. Co-operative society, contracts, workshops, seminars etc.) for the purpose of generating revenue for the operation of the chapter.

SECTION 4:

MEMBERSHIP:

Not withstanding section 4 of the Constitution:

a.       Membership of the Association shall be opened to all sons and daughter of Annang Nation who are resident  in the F.C.T., Abuja;

 

b.     Pursuance to Section 4 (a) of this provision, a member shall not lose his/her membership by reason of relocation, provided his/her financial commitment with the Association is up to date;

c.   Members shall be issued with membership identity cards on complete of documentations and full payments of fees and dues;

d.       Membership is subject to renewal annually.

 

MOTTO: "ARURU, UKEME MNE UKO"

 
The Annang people are located in the Coastal Southeastern Nigeria and Southwestern Camerron which was a part of the present Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State. However, during the then Nigerian Regional era, the then Eastern Region of Nigeria allowed Southwestern Cameroon to be partitioned out of Nigeria into Cameroon through the 1961 plebiscite. In this action the Annang,Efik and Ibibio people were divided into Nigeria and Cameroon
